History of Bethel AG Church, Dubai

During the early 1970s, a significant number of individuals from South India migrated to the Gulf countries, particularly to Dubai, in search of better opportunities. As there was no Malayalam Pentecostal Church in Dubai at that time, a small group of people from Kerala established a Fellowship in Malayalam to worship the Lord in Truth and Spirit. This marked the inception of Dubai Pentecostal Church in 1974. The Church continued to grow as more people joined, leading to its expansion during that time.

Those brothers were from different congregations and by the late 1980s, they began to reflect on their respective mother Churches in Kerala. In March 1981, the first Malayalam Assembly of God Church commenced its fellowship at the Indian High School in Karama, Dubai. Pastor C. D Sam, hailing from Kottarakkara, led this Fellowship, and God's grace was evident as many souls were brought into the Church.

In 1982, the Fellowship relocated to The Holy Trinity Church complex on Oud Mehta Road to carry on with their worship. From 1981 to 1987, the Church extended its ministries to various areas of the U.A.E such as Jebel Ali, Sonapur, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi, and the message of the Lord reached many individuals. Leaders from the Malayalam District Council, including Rev. P. D Johnson, Rev. T. J Samuel, and Rev. P. S Philip, visited and bolstered the Fellowship through their ministries.

Many congregations and intimate assemblies were established in the U.A.E as a result of the efforts of this particular Church. According to the Bible's declaration in Matthew 16:18, "On this rock I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not overcome it," the Church experienced continuous spiritual growth in sanctity and devotion through the teachings of the Word of God.

Since 1990, this Church has been known as Bethel Assembly of God Church-Dubai and has been associated with the South India Assemblies of God-Malayalam District Council. Pastors from the SIAG Malayalam District Council have been appointed on a regular basis to provide spiritual guidance to the Fellowship.
